corner newsletter

Welcome to our new, in-house newsletter!
The newsletter will be delivered to your inbox every other Monday.
The new name "The CARE Corner" highlights our core values and each section will be dedicated to highlighting the HBV values of: Compassion, Accountability, Respect, & Excellence.
It's a great way to stay connected to all the key information within Hospice Brazos Valley.  Enjoy!

Serving All With Dignity

Fundraisers like Hog Splash, slated for August 28, 2021, help us continue to extend compassion and serve all with dignity, regardless of their ability to pay. On June 10th HBV partnered with the Brazos Valley Bombers for a KICKOFF PARTY to get the community excited about the 10th Annual Hog Splash. HBV had fun on the party deck with the HBV team and past sponsors while talking to those in attendance about going whole hog at Hog Splash.

HBV President & CEO, Dr. Craig Borchardt, threw out a great first pitch! If you know someone interested in registering a team, click below to view the online team registration form or text a friend the link to the event page: www.hospicebrazosvalley.org/hogsplash!

Everyone can represent award-winning hospice care in style when wearing clothing with the HBV logo.  Holli Johnson, pictured here, is shown modeling our comfortable bright green polo. Both polos and jackets can be ordered with our HBV logo to wear when representing HBV in the community.  To view the options, click the "View Item Options" button below.  To order, email Holli with the item type, size, color, and quantity.   Payment is also super easy using payroll deduction option!  If you desire, once the order is placed, Holli can deduct the amount from your next paycheck.  When your order arrives, she will notify you and send it to your location!  It's so simple!

Answering to Our Relationships

Serving the community in and around the HBV service area is central to our mission. It creates accountability and trust beyond just HBV's patients. The community has the opportunity to learn about hospice and meet the HBV team during events like bingo, drive thru lunch for seniors with Area Agency on Aging, teaching crafts, presenting Hospice 101, or when HBV hosts a blood drive in Brenham. Community events breathe life into the brand and provide the opportunity for Hospice Brazos Valley to create accountability through meaningful relationships.

HBV is honored again to be the winner of the Readers' Choice for Best Hospice in The Eagle AND The Fayette County Record! These awards carry extra meaning because they are voted on by the community and affirm that Hospice Brazos Valley remains its first choice for comfort care.  These honors can only be attributed to the excellent service each of you provide daily and the commitment displayed by the HBV team to our core values.  Thank you!

of feelings, rights, & traditions of others

HBV respects the feelings, rights and traditions of others through the commitment to publish a comprehensive admission book that is provided to every new patient on service.  The admission book design, content, and ads are refreshed every 2 years.  The new admission book is now in the office and hot off the presses!  We thank our 10 advertising sponsors who made this beautiful, full color admission book possible:

Brenham Memorial Chapel

Hillier Funeral Home

Rhodes Financial

Callaway-Jones Funeral & Cremation Services

Choate Monument Company

The Payne Law Group

Trevino-Smith Funeral Home

College Station Monument, LLC

Hampton Inn College Station

Marilyn Moore, About Town Realty

One of these sponsors remarked, "the admission book is a great organizational tool for patients and their families. It's so much better than a bunch of papers in a folder to prepare for end of life challenges."

Advancing and Reshaping End of Life Care

The week of June 17-24 is National Nursing Assistants' Week. Our all-star Hospice Care Aides, aka, HCAs/CNAs, were asked to fill out a questionnaire and are being featured on social media.    Each story featured on the HBV Facebook page focuses on the attribute of excellence.  Some stories are very personal about what our team has experienced in their careers.

A few of them are featured here and others can be viewed on the HBV Facebook page.

Many thanks to all who participated!
