Bereavement support
Numerous programs and services are available to Hospice patients and families, as well as anyone in the community who needs grief and bereavement support.
Bereavement services are available to anyone. It is not a criteria that your loved one received services from Hospice Brazos Valley for you to participate in bereavement services. There are no costs to participating in bereavement services.

Beyond
Grief:
A six-part series involving group interaction; providing a safe place for individuals to learn about the dynamics of grief with others who are experiencing grief. Sessions are scheduled quarterly.
Loss
of a Child:
A program for parents who are grieving the death of a child. This is a safe, comfortable forum for parents to learn about the grief process and express their feelings with others who are experiencing the same loss.
Kids
Camp :
A day camp for children ages 6 to 12 who have lost a family member or
friend to death. Serious yet fun activities are structured to allow children
to learn about grief, express feelings, honor memories and expand friendships.
This program is offered twice a year. One 8-year-old day camper said,
"The best part of Camp was being able to send my Granddad a message
in a balloon."
Holidays
Without You:
An annual program for anyone facing their first holidays without their loved one. Knowledgeable individuals from the communtiy provide practical ideas and coping strategies for dealing with this difficult and emotional time. One surviving husband and dad said, "Holidays Without You helped me realize that my wife would have wanted me to continue celebrating the holidays with our children and close friends."
Teen
and Young Adult Group:
A safe, comfortable forum for teens and young adults to talk about their grief. Activities are designed to provide peer interaction, grief education, and the preservation of memories. This program is offered as needed.
Memorial
Services:
Non-denominational, candlelighting services for families, volunteers and staff where loved ones are remembered.
First
Step Lunch:
Luncheons are held monthly in Bryan, Brenham, and Giddings to provide
survivors a safe place to reintroduce themselves to social interaction.
There is time for discussion and expressions regarding the loss of a loved
one. One surviving wife said, "I met two other ladies from my town
at my first First Step Lunch. Now we call each other every week and share
problems and joys."
