An employee of the Brenham office for Hospice Brazos Valley has been named 'Social Worker of the Year" for the Texas and New Mexico Hospice Organization.
Melissa Whitehead, a licensed social worker at Hospice Brazos Valley for the past 11 years, was presented the award Friday in Houston at the organization's annual convention.
Larry Farrow, executive director for the over 250 Texas and New Mexico Hospice Organizations, presented Whitehead with the award.
The branch manager for the Brenham and La Grange offices for Hospice Brazos Valley, Skip Stutts, nominated Whitehead for the award, saying, "She is not only a relentless advocate for our patients, but an anchor to their families during those anxious and uncertain times that often unfold around end-of-life concerns."
